Plug-in cables connect the switching elements in series and at their ends connect to a switching device which is common to them. The number of cable conductors is determined by the product of switching elements and line conductors per switching element. In each of the cables, the cable conductors form, according to the multi-conductor capacity of each of the lines, a plurality of rows, in each case the first cable conductor within each particular row being connected via the input side of the respective switching element to a line conductor which leads into the said switching element and is accordingly individually assigned to it and the second to the last cable conductor of the respective row individually forming with the first to last but one cable conductor of the ongoing cable which is connected in a plug-in fashion via the output side of the respective switching element, conductor tracks which continue via the said cable.
