PURPOSE:To prevent the erasion of graphic data by returning the graphic data to its original file in case the graphic data converted into a fixed-point form from a floating-point form has the value out of the limit of the fixed-point form display. CONSTITUTION:When the graphic data is shifted to a file 2 from a file 1 by a control part 7, the graphic data is read out of the file 1 and inputted to a converting means 3. The means 3 converts the graphic data into a fixed-point form and checks whether the value of the fixed-point coordinates is set out of a limit or not. If so, the graphic data is stored in a steady area 5A in the file 2. If not, the graphic data is stored in a specific area 5B in the form of a floating point as it is. The graphic data read out of the area 5B is sent back to the file 1 as it is and therefore never erased.
