PURPOSE:To minimize an increase in the number of parts and to permit automatic removal of foreign matter from the edge of a cleaning blade by moving a blade cleaning plate to bring the same into contact with the cleaning blade by the rotation of a support to support the blade. CONSTITUTION:A presser 7a presses the blade cleaning plate 11 to largely curve the plate and the tip of the plate 11 is held retracted from the tip of the cleaning blade 2 in a cleaning state. A supporting fitting 4 rotates around a rotary shaft part 4a after the completion of the cleaning operation, by which the blade 2 is detached from a recording body 1. The plate 11 parts from the presser 7a as the fitting 4 rotates and, therefore, the curving thereof returns and the curvature thereof changes. The tip of the plate 11 mounted on the fitting 4 is thereby moved while being pressed to the edge of the blade 2. The foreign matter adhered to the edge is thereby removed.
