PURPOSE:To instantaneously know the state of translation by calculating the rate of the current translated volume to the whole sentences to be translated every fixed time interval and displaying the calculated value as a graphic. CONSTITUTION:The number of sentences in the whole sentences is registered in an original sentence file 20 as the accessory information of the sentences to be translated in addition to a document name, and so on. On the other hand, the number of translated sentences is registered in a translated sentence file 50 and its contents are updated in accordance with the advancement of translation. At the time of reading out sentences to be translated from the file 20, a CPU 30 reads out also the number of sentences in the whole sentences and sets up the value in a register or the like. When translation is started, the CPU 30 reads out the current number of translated sentences from the file 50 every fixed time interval under control by a translation volume calculation displaying program 12 stored in a program memory 10, calculates the rate of translated sentences and displays the calculated value on a display device 40 as a graphic. Consequently, the user can grasp a momently translation advancing state at a glance.
