PURPOSE:To obtain the titled elastomeric fiber outstanding in dyeability and chemical resistance, free from fiber breakage in the cold winter season, by reaction in an organic polar solvent between a specific linear hydroxyl compound component, an excess of organic diisocyanate and chain extender having two active hydrogen groups followed by spinning. CONSTITUTION:A polymer solution prepared by reaction in an organic polar solvent between (I) a linear polyhydroxyl compound component having hydroxyl groups at the both ends made up of a mixture of (A) a component carrying hydroxyl groups at the both ends derived from (i) isophthalic acid and (ii) at least one kind of glycol selected from polytetramethylene ether glycol, 1,6- hexanediol and polypropylene ether glycol, and (B) polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMEG), (II) an excess of organic diisocyanate and (III) a chain extender having two active hydrogen groups is brought to spinning to obtain the objective fiber.
