摘要 PURPOSE:To perform multilevel recording with a small-sized and high-reliability liquid crystal shutter array head by providing a head driving circuit with shift registers, the number of which is twice as large as the number of recording electrodes, having the number of bits corresponding to thee division number. CONSTITUTION:If the number of dots, namely, control electrodes which one recording electrode takes partial charge of is defined as 8 and the number of recording electrodes is defined as N in a driving circuit of recording electrodes of the liquid crystal shutter array head, N-number of shift registers 2 and N-number of shift registers 3 function as double buffers. These shift registers 2 and 3 have the same scale as shift registers and latches for one-line components of a conventional device, and a selector 4 has the same scale as the sum of respective selectors of the conventional device, and selectors 5 are necessary similarly in case of multilevel recording in the conventional device. Thus, the circuit scale is reduced because the circuit of address counters used in the conventional device is unnecessary, and multilevel recording is realized in the scale where the driving circuit can be incorporated in the head because of an integrated circuit.
