PURPOSE:To output illuminating light and white light suitable for a scope provided with a face sequential type image pickup means by providing an optical system which by-passes color filters. CONSTITUTION:A light source device 15 is provided with a light source lamp 31 which emits the white light, a rotating filter 33 which has color transmission filters of three primary colors, namely, red(R), green(G), and blue(B) and is rotated and driven by a motor, and rotating mirrors 150a and 150b and mirrors 151a and 151b as the optical system by which the white light from the light source lamp 31 is supplied to a condenser lens 34 without passing color transmission filters of the rotating filter 33. Thus, even the white light suitable for a scope provided with a color mosaic type image pickup means as well as a fiber scope is outputted.
