PURPOSE:To uniformly hold a fixing roller temperature, and to obtain a stable picture quality in both of the time of copying of a single color and a multicolor, by operating a cooling fan for cooling the end part of a fixing means extending over a prescribed time after the continuous copying after the minimum size. CONSTITUTION:Detecting signals of thermistors 47, 49 provided on a fixing roller 31 and a pressure roller 32 are sent to a CPU 52 through an A/D converter 53, and by turning ON and OFF fixing heaters 33, 34 through a solid state relay 54, a temperature is kept constant. When a single mode repeat by the minimum size, for instance, a mode of 50 sheets or more is set by an operating part 51 and copying is started, the end part temperature is allowed to fall by rotating a roller end part cooling fan 63 extending over some prescribed time, after the copying has been ended. In such a way, there is no overshoot after the continuous copying, and also, the inside of the passing paper width is not cooled, therefore, a roughly smooth temperature control can be executed.
