The subject of the invention is a system for assembling a motor vehicle steering wheel hub onto a steering column. The system comprises a blocking means made up of a screw 50 engaged in the hollow terminal end of the column 10 having at least one slit 10B giving rise to a radial expansion of this terminal end and to axial blocking of the hub 11 attached onto the column 10. Advantageously, this system is combined with a device 2 for the angular adjustment of the hub whose ring 20, mounted between the hub and the column, immobilises the hub 11 axially.
