PURPOSE:To decrease the number of parts together with improvement of the operability and reduction of the cost with a printer, by providing a nonvolatile memory to a memory means to store the serial numbers fetched via an interface. CONSTITUTION:A memory means contains a nonvolatile memory EEPROM11 which holds the serial numbers 16 fetched via an interface 7. When these numbers 16 are stored in a printer, a serial number transmitter 13 is connected to the printer via the interface 7. Then the transmitter 13 transmits a single number 16 corresponding to the printer to this printer together with a storing command. The printer stores the numbers 16 fetched from the interface 7 into the memory 11 based on the storing command. In such a way, the serial numbers are surely and easily stored into the printer. |
