PURPOSE:To suppress the generation of NoX within the combustor to the minimum to carry out a stable combustion by premixing a fuel supplied to combustion chambers at both head and tail parts with combustion air so as to carry out a premixing combustion, and then a combustion in which the premixing degree of a main burner is intensified, and further premixing multi-stage combustions. CONSTITUTION:A first stage combustion is made a premixing combustion, and further the degree of premixing is intensified in stages of combustion including the second combustion whereby reduction of NOX becomes possible. In the case of intensifying the premixing, problems reside in countermeasures for narrow stable combustion regions, a structure for burning in the full operational range under a condition close to the optimum and a control method thereof, and a structure for intensifying the premixing. With respect to the fact that the stable combustion zone, becomes narrow, particularly at the time of a low load, a stable flame holding is carried out in (a first stage burner 6) a pilot burner 5 whereby premixed flame burns stably. In order to realize combustion under a condition close to the optimum in the full operational range, the combustion is carried out even in a second-stage burner 7, and the air-fuel ratio control at each stage is performed by shifting a guide ring 9 by a shifting mechanism 24 thereof.
