PURPOSE:To obtain the titled preparation maintaining excellent functions in water for a long time, having readily handleable long diameter and short diameter, by granulating a mixture of powder consisting essentially of a water-soluble inorganic salt showing a neutral pH atmosphere when dissolved in water and a water-soluble antiseptic. CONSTITUTION:A granular antiseptic comprising a mixture of powder consisting essentially of a water-soluble inorganic salt (e.g. NaCl, Na2SO4 or sodium oxalate) showing pH 4-9 when dissolved in water and a water-soluble antiseptic (e.g. sodium alginate or 5-chloro-2-methyl-isothiazoline-3-one), having >=1mm short diameter and the short diameter >=1/10 long diameter. The antiseptic is readily handleable, not completely dissolved in water for a long time, gradually releases an agent component and shows a neutral atmosphere in dissolution so that the antiseptic does not damage tools and materials and extremely readily controls sterilization, antisepsis, maintenance and purification of industrial aqueous solution and cooling water.
