The invention relates to a process for sealing panes (11) comprising glass or the like in windows, doors or the like consisting of wood, in which process a flexible extruded seal, which exhibits a head region (2) and a foot region (1), is plugged, by means of its foot region (1), into a retaining groove (14) between the pane (11) or the like and a glazing bar (13) and, by virtue of elastic deformation of extruded-seal parts (3, 4, 5, 6, 7) resting on the pane (11) and the glazing bar (13) via a sealing surface (F1, F2, F3; F4, F5), a seal between pane (11) and glazing bar (13) is thereby achieved. On pressing the foot region (1) of the extruded seal into the retaining groove (14), in said process, a permanently flexible putty composition (10), which is prestored in receiving chambers (9) in the foot region (1) of the extruded seal, is at least partially pressed out of the receiving chambers (9) in the direction of the counter-surface (11; 13), to be sealed, and the sealing surface (F1, F2; F4, F5), on said sealing surface. In the case of a flexible extruded seal provided to carry out this process, there is provided in the foot region (1), on the side or sides of the latter directed towards the pane (11) and/or the glazing bar (13), in each case at least one receiving chamber (9) which is open to the sides, is prefilled with a permanently flexible putty composition (10) and the lower delimitation of which - seen in the profile cross-section - is formed by the upper side of a profile lip (3; 4) which juts out. <IMAGE>
