Apparatus for supplying oxygen-enriched air to a patient (22) in synchronism with the patient's respiration, includes a regulator (29) controlling the duration for which oxygen enriched air is supplied for each inhalation. The duration is based on a combination of averaging process of the durations of preceding inhalations and a certain ratio that is set on the regulator (29), so that the air supply to the patient is halted both during a last portion of each inhalation and during exhalation.
