<p>This invention presents novel 2-azetidinone compounds of formula (I), wherein R80 is -CO2R5 or -CONR6R7; wherein R5 is hydrogen or (C1-C4) alkyl; and wherein R6 and R7 are the same or different and are hydrogen, (C1-C4) alkyl, or -OH with the proviso that when R6 is -OH, R7 is other than -OH. These compounds are useful as antibacterial agents to eradicate or control susceptible microbes. Intermediates and processes for making these compounds are also disclosed.</p> |
