PRODUCTION OF MEMBRANE CONTAINING POLYIONIC COMPLEX

PURPOSE:To produce a membrane contg. a polyionic complex which is high in durability, permeation rate and separation factor for a wide-range concn. of organic substances by immersing a previously cross-linked and insolubilized anionic polymer into a cationic polymer soln. CONSTITUTION:For example, a cross-linked complex membrane of polyacrylic acid epoxy or the like is obtained by repeating such coating treatment that an aq. soln. obtained by adding ethylene glycol diglycidylether to polyacrylic acid is cast on an ultrafilter of polyether sulfone and heated. A membrane consisting of a previously cross-linked and insolubilized anionic polymer is converted into polyionic complex by immersing it into a soln. of cationic polymer such as a polyallylamine hydrochloride soln. consisting of a mixed liquid of ethanol/water as a solvent. In the complex membrane obtained by such a way, the skin layer is cross-linked by a covalent bond and therefore durability of the membrane and solvent resistance are high and the membrane exhibits a high separation performance resulting from separation activity of the polyionic complex.
