PURPOSE:To execute the conversion processing without awaiting the user by applying the conversion processing in parallel with the input of a KANA (Japanese syllabary) character. CONSTITUTION:Receiving a reading from an input section 1, a control section 2 stores the input reading into a temporary storage buffer to apply KANJI (Chinese character) pattern check and a dependent word pattern check thereby paraphrasing an input read string based on the KANJI pattern information and the dependent word information. The control section 2 extracts the input reading string for 2 paraphrases from the head when it is discriminated that the number of paraphrases reaches 2 or over, and a conversion processing section 5 applies KANA/KANJI processing. Moreover, the control section 2 extracts only the one paragraph at the head in a character string mixed with KANJI and KANA generated by the KANA/KANJI conversion processing, displays the result on a display section 4 and eliminates the input reading corresponding to the head one paragraph from the display section.
