According to the invention, a clamping ring closure for containers comprises a two-armed outer lever and a connecting lever which is linked to the outer lever, the outer lever being linked to one end of the clamping ring, and the connecting lever being linked to the other end of the clamping ring. To achieve a greater pressing-on force of the clamping ring onto the container edge, the two-armed outer lever is linked to the end of the clamping ring at a point which is located outside the outer surface of the clamping ring in the radial direction of the circle defined by the clamping ring. By means of this design of the clamping lever closure, a firm connection between a lid fitted onto a container and the bead-shaped edge of a container is implemented, in particular in the region of the closure.
