New amino acid derivatives having general formula (I) and their salts, in which A represents the remainder of a bi-cyclic alpha -amino acid with the formula (a), (b), (c), (d), (e), (f), (g), (h), (i) or (j). The new compounds prove effective in lowering-blood pressure and in protecting the heart and brain.
