The invention relates to a device allowing a motorised microlight aeroplane to be lifted on air cushions and to use this characteristic for taking off and returning to surfaces of variable consistency. It is made up of an air-cushioned catamaran pod including two lateral hulls each surrounded by a flexible air-retention skirt and supplied by a common blower. When the pilot starts up the motor of the blower the craft moves away from its support surface and is held on the air cushions which are formed under its lift skirts. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for equipping motorised microlight aeroplanes and for eliminating the use of double skirts on air-cushioned vehicles used in surface flights. <IMAGE>
