Device for locating views on the ground from a satellite, and corresponding method. Three images of the point N are taken at three (optionally two) different instants t1, t2, t3; the angle F between the point N, the satellite S and a direction D determined by a solar collector is measured on each occasion; knowledge of the position of the satellite and of this direction makes it possible to determine the intersections R of the cones of vertex S, of vertex angle 360 DEG -2F and with an axis passing through the Sun C and the satellite S with the planet T; the point N alone belongs to R1, R2 and R3.
