<p>Shaped articles consist of (I) an (alkyl) styrene polymer contg. (II) 0.1-50% wt. homogeneously distributed inorg. filler having a particle size of 0.1-2 mu, the article having a surface coating of a metal, which is placed on the surface by electrodeposition after chemical activation of the surface. (I) is pref. an acrylonitrile-styrene copolymer, or an ABS terpolymer. (II) is pref. TiO2. Incorporation of (II) leads to considerably improved banding between the metal coating and the plastic substrate. The metal coating can consist of Cu, Ni, Cr, Ag, Ni etc., and generally has a thickness of 0.5 mu - 1 mm.</p> |
