PURPOSE:To facilitate correction work, by providing a display control means which identifies and displays the fact that a word is a mis-spelled word on a display when the mis-spelled word is detected. CONSTITUTION:In a document preparing device, an input means which inputs the data of a character and a mark and the paragraph data of a character string consisting of the data of the character and the mark, a display means which displays inputted character and mark, and the paragraph data on the display, a dictionary memory in which plural words are stored, and a spelling check means which checks the spelling of the word in the character string based on the data of the dictionary memory, are provided. And the display control means which identifies and displays the fact that the word is the mis- spelled word when the mis-spelled word is detected, and a mis-spelled part in the mis-spelled word is provided. In such a way, it is possible to facilitate the correction of an erroneous part.
