Thoracic suspension apparatus allowing the vertebral column to be stretched using the weight of the body. The invention relates to a suspension belt intended to exert a decompression on the intervertebral discs: especially the lumbar discs. It consists of a thoracic belt 1 wound around the thorax. Two straps and two attachment buckles hold the belt tightened. Four suspension buckles 6 are fixed onto the belt: two at the front and two at the back. These stationary buckles or rings allow four suspension lines 5 to pass, which suspension lines 5 are joined by spring hooks to four hooks fixed above. The user adopts the "seated" position, such that the feet rest on the floor, in front of the axis x of the body, and the elbows are placed in two side pockets 4, in order to prevent the belt sliding over the thorax. The thoracic belt according to the invention, allowing a decompression of the intervertebral discs by the sole effect of the weight P of the body of the user, is in particular intended for persons suffering from lumbago. It can be used for obtaining a sedative effect on the lumbar pain, but also as a curative and preventive means. <IMAGE>
