PURPOSE:To prevent illegal use of a card by providing a power conductor for a light emitting element to a position at which a punch hole is made in a magnetic card, making the punch hole in response to the number of times of the use of the card so as to stop the lighting of the light emitting element. CONSTITUTION:A recording magnetic stripe 2 and a residual number display area 3 are provided on the magnetic card 1. Four electroluminescent elements 6 are provided to the area 3 at a prescribed interval to confirm the residual number of times visually and connected from terminals 8, 10 by wires 7A, 7B, 9. Moreover, the position of the punch hole is taken on the wire 7A. In loading the card to a card reader/writer 20, the information is read by a magnetic head 31 on the way to be fed by a motor 41 and when the card contacts its end 36, the element 6 is lighted to display the residual number of times. Then, the motor 41 is reversed to eject the card, and new information is written on the strip 2 on its way and a punch hole is punched on the wire 7A of the card by a puncher 30. Thus, the illegal use of the card is attained.
