The technique of adding radiation-reducing materials to concrete when pouring it is known. But until now, these have been distributed irregularly in the concrete, and thus do not ensure sufficient reduction of radiation for the structure concerned. In order to be able to position the radiation-reducing materials at defined sites in the structure concerned, the structure is to incorporate cavities that are filled with radiation-reducing material. To form a radiation-reducing protective shield, the cavities are staggered so as to be superimposed on one another in the structure.
