The invention concerns a support device for mounting or removing motor-vehicle components. In order to provide a rigid support that will not damage the component, while securing the position of the motor-vehicle component, the invention provides that the means that directly hold the motor-vehicle component take the form of bell-crank levers positioned on support arms. These can swivel between a standby position for receiving the component, and an in-use position supporting the motor-vehicle component. In the in-use position, the one, horizontally aligned leg of the bell-crank lever serves to bear the load of the motor-vehicle component, while the other, vertically aligned leg of the bell-crank lever transmits a clamping force to the motor-vehicle component which secures the latter in its position.
