PURPOSE:To with high precision read by using the line sensor of a low price by providing the photosensitizing part rows of two colors portion that a mono chromatic filter is coated on the line sensor, and constituting a light source with two different colored light sources, and performing a three color separation by changing the two colored light sources. CONSTITUTION:The two different colored light sources 2, 3 are changed alter nately and lit, and a reflected light from an original 1 is formed into an image on a two row line sensor 5 by an unmagnification optical system, for instance, a lens array 4. On the surface of the two row line sensor 5, photodiode rows 8, 9, coated with the filters 6, 7 of different two colors, are arranged, and at the outside of the photodiode rows 8, 9, switching transistor rows 14, 15, which transfer simultaneously an electric charge, accumulated in the respective photodi ode, to CCD (charge combining element) analog shift registers 10, 11 by shift signals 12, 13, are provided. Thus, by the changing of the two row line sensors of two colors and of the light sources of two colors, the three color separation of green, blue and red can be executed.
