The invention relates to an X-ray diagnostic device with a luminescent storage screen (4) for the latent storage of the respective X-ray image, with a read-out device in which the storage screen (4) is excited into luminescence for producing the image, with an imaging system (5) and a detector (6) for the light emitted by the storage screen (4) and with a monitor (8). The storage screen (4), the imaging system (5) and the detector (6) are combined to form one unit. The detector (6) is connected to a frame store (13) in which at least one frame is stored during the recording of the X-ray image on the basis of the spontaneous emission of the luminescent storage substance and a further image is stored during the read-out process, the images being superimposed picture-element by picture-element.
