PURPOSE:To continuously and industrially perform mica painting according to a two-coat system without color irregularity, in the painting of an automobile, by using an air atomizing type electrostatic painting machine in the painting of the flat surface part and side surface part of the automobile and using a microbell type painting machine in the painting of the correction parts of the front and rear parts of the vehicle. CONSTITUTION:A color intermediate coat film of which the brightness is N1-N6 as a Munsell value is applied to an electrodeposition paint film at first and the surface thereof is adjusted by water sanding. Next, mica base paint containing 0.1-10wt.% of a paint solid of coating mica and an aluminum foil in a compounding ratio of 5/95-95/5 is applied to the color intermediate film. At this time, the flat surface part and side surface part of an automobile is painted by a rotary atomizing type electrostatic painting apparatus according to an one-stage system and the correction parts of the front and rear parts of the car are painted by a microbell type painting machine according to the same system. Then, during a time when the mica base paint is uncured, clear paint is applied according to a wet-on-wet system.
