PURPOSE:To lengthen the service life for construction of iron tapping hole at hearth wall in a blast furnace by arranging carbonaceous refractories, having larger thermal conductivity than an iron tapping hole forming carbonaceous refractory, on an iron shell at outer circumferential part of the tapping hole forming refractory to promote cooling. CONSTITUTION:The refractory 4 forming the iron tapping hole 8 at the hearth wall in the blast furnace is of the large-sized carbonaceous refractory having 5-25kcal/m.hr. deg.C thermal conductivity. The interior of the cooled iron shell 1 or cooling device arranged at inner face of the iron shell 1 of outer circumferential part of the above refractory, is lined and constructed of the large-sized carbonaceous refractories 3 having larger thermal conductivity than the iron tapping hole forming refractory 4. In this way, anxiety of steam oxidization caused by water leakage from the cooling plate, is eliminated and the part 5 having refractory temp. of >=about 1,100 deg.C in the iron tapping hole 8 part can be projected to operating side and the service life of the iron tapping hole 8 can be prolonged.
