PURPOSE:To enhance color forming properties and stability of developed color images and suppress fogging color development due to chemicals, decoloration of a developed color part or the like, by incorporating a specified salicylic acid derivative or a metallic salt thereof as an electron-acceptive compound. CONSTITUTION:A salicylic acid derivative having an acyl group or a hydroxyl group or a metallic salt of the derivative is incorporated as an electron-acceptive compound, in a recording material utilizing a color forming reaction upon contact of an electron-donative colorless dye with the electron-acceptive compound. Of the salicylic acid derivatives, preferred is one represented by the formula, wherein R is acyl, X is hydrogen, an alkyl, phenyl, alkoxyl or halogen, M is hydrogen or an n-valent metal atom, and n is an integer. An electron-acceptive compound such as a phenol derivative, a phenolic resin and acid clay may be used in combination with the salicylic acid derivative. |
