PURPOSE:To prevent entrance of oil and water to the inside of a dry type electric motor, by a method wherein, in an underwater pump provided with a pump part located above the dry type electric motor with an oil chamber therebetween, the interior of the dry type electric motor is filled with low pressure air. CONSTITUTION:An underwater pump is provided with a pump part 3 above a dry type electric motor 1 with an oil chamber 2 therebetween. In the dry type electric motor 1, a winding 5 is wound around a stator 4, and a current is fed through an electric wire 6 from the external. Further, a rotor 7 is situated on the bore side of the stator 4, and a long shaft 8 mounted to the rotor 7 is coupled to a pump part 3 located to the upper part of the pump. In this case, an air injection port 14, to which an air pump, injecting air in a tyre for a bicycle, is connectable, is formed in the bottom part of the dry type electric motor 1. After completion of assembly of the underwater pump, air is injected through the air injection port 14 to bring the interior of the dry type electric motor 1 into an atmosphere state of approximate 1kg/cm<2>, and this constitution prevents entrance of oil and water to the interior of the dry type electric motor 1.
