PURPOSE:To reduce the input operation as much as possible to prevent an operator from forgetting to input a question mark by discriminating a prescribed KANJI (Chinese character) composing an interrogative sentence by a KANJI discriminating part to automatically input the question mark code from a question mark code memory following the KANJI when this KANJI is inputted. CONSTITUTION:A KANJI discriminating part 4 discriminates whether a supplied KANJI code has a characteristic to compose an interrogative sentence or not. If it has this characteristic, the KANJI code is stored in a prescribed address of a sentence memory 6 and the code indicating '?' is taken out from a question mark code memory 5 and is stored in the following address of the sentence memory. The KANJI code and the mark code stored in the sentence memory 6 in this manner are successively supplied to a character developing parts 9 and are developed to prescribed dot patterns and are displayed out on a display part 11. Consequently, when the KANJI which has the characteristic to compose an interrogative sentence is inputted, question mark '?' is automatically inputted following this KANJI. Thus, the input operation is reduced as much as possible to prevent the operator from forgetting to input the question mark.
