PURPOSE:To improve protocol processing speed by sending a signal representing the end of a transmission or a reception data via a buffer memory between a communication control circuit and a DAM control circuit. CONSTITUTION:In communication control unit comprising a communication control circuit 1 applying serial communication control according to the communication protocol, a buffer memory (FIFO) 2 of the first-in first-out system storing tentatively the transmission/reception data, a DAM control circuit 3 applying DAM transfer with the data buffer of the host computer side of the FIFO and a control section 4 controlling them entirely, a signal representing the end of a frame is sent between the serial communication control circuit 1 and the DAM control circuit 3 via the FIFO 2. Thus, since the data reception is stopped automatically without intervention of the control section at the reception side based on the signal attended with the data, the load of the control section is relieved and the protocol processing speed is improved.
