摘要 PURPOSE:To effectively utilize reducing gas flowing center part of a furnace for the reduction of ore without hindering ventilation thereof by charging iron ore having the specific grain size near the center part of the furnace through an auxiliary charging device by the prescribed quantity each time. CONSTITUTION:A bell type raw material charging apparatus 4 composing of gyrating bells 10-16 of large, middle and small sizes and gyrating hopper 18, etc., is arranged on the furnace inlet and the raw material is dropped to charge by the prescribed quantity each time. In the method to charge the raw material into the above vertical furnace, further coarse iron ores having 20-100mm grain size are charged near the center part of the vertical furnace by the specific quantity each time. In this way, lowering of ore/coke ratio at the furnace center part is prevented, so as not to hinder ventilation. The iron ores having the above coarse grain size are desirable to be charged near the furnace center part by sending the iron ores carried by the conveyor 6 to the supplying hopper 26 of the auxiliary charging device 22 arranged at the furnace top part 2 through a distributing chute 28 shifting on the rail 36 and further by bounding the ores by movable armors 8 through charging chutes 24 each provided with a lower part sealing valve 30.
