In the apparatus for controlling a fancy-yarn twisting or spinning machine having a plurality of individually controllable delivery units (1, 2, 3) and a spindle drive, each delivery unit (1, 2, 3) is assigned its own pulse generator (G1, G2, G3), the pulse period of which corresponds to a length unit of the yarn component delivered by the associated delivery unit. The spindle drive is assigned a pulse generator (G4) recording the spindle revolutions. Provided between the pulse generators (G1 to G4) and a programmable counter (8, 10) is a selector switch (6) which can be changed over according to a programme control (7) and by means of which in each case, on the last pulse of a switching step, either that pulse generator (G1 to G3), the associated delivery unit (1 to 3) of which runs at the slowest delivery speed in the subsequent switching step, can be switched to the counter (8, 10) or, if all the delivery units (1 to 3) are stopped in the subsequent switching step, the pulse generator (G4) of the spindle drive can be switched to the counter (8, 10). <IMAGE>
