PICTURE TRANSMITTING METHOD

PURPOSE:To shorten the retransmission time of an error block by transmitting it while the size of the block of a picture is changed according to the error rate of a transmission line. CONSTITUTION:A transmitter side transmits a test data before the transmission of a data, and receives the test data, which has made the round trip of one time through the line, and measures the number of the errors, and determines the data length of one block to be transmitted according to the number of the errors. The size of the block of a BLOCK 1 is larger. Further, the block numbers and the check codes of the same number of bits are attached to the BLOCKs 1 and 2. When the error rate is low, the proportions of the data of the block number or the check code is less, compared with that of the picture data. Because the number to be retransmitted of the BLOCK 1 is less, the data to be actually transmitted comes less, and the transmission time comes shorter. When the error rate is high, the data to be actually transmitted of the BLOCK 2 comes less, and its transmission time comes shorter.
