PURPOSE:To provide an agent for skin-protection, beauty treatment and/or hair tonic, composed of a residue left after the extraction of active component from cultured medium of mycelia of basidiomycete available as an industrial waste, or extract of the residue with hot water, organic solvent or a mixture of organic solvent and water. CONSTITUTION:Mycelia of basidiomycete are proliferated in a solid medium produced by adding rice hull and/or wheat bran to sawdust and rice bran. The proliferated mycelia are dried at low temperature under reduced pressure and the active components are extracted with warm water having relatively low temperature or with water of normal temperature. The resultant residue (industrial waste) is used as it is or as an extract produced by immersing the residue in hot water of >=70 deg.C for >=30min or extracting with an organic solvent or a mixture of an organic solvent and water. The agent can be effectively used for the preservation of skin health as a bathing agent, etc., for the beauty treatment as a facial pack, cosmetic, etc., and/or for the hair tonic treatment. |
