<p>PURPOSE:To rapidly replenish a recording liquid in such a state that energy loss is reduced and the resistance of a flow passage at the time of the replenishment of the recording liquid is made low, by arranging a filler having a hydrophilic surface becoming larger in a void ratio toward an upstream direction on the upstream of an emitting energy generating means. CONSTITUTION:When voltage is applied, the heat generator 2 on a substrate generates heat and, as a result, the recording liquid of the part brought into contact with said heat generator is foamed and emitted from an emitting orifice 3 by the pressure due to foaming. Glass globules 9, 10, 11, 12 being a filler are set so that the diameters thereof become 9<10<11<12 and arranged in a common liquid chamber 6 in this order so that a void ratio becomes larger toward the upstream side. Each of the glass globules 9 is made slightly larger than the cross-sectional dimension of a flow passage so as to be prevented from flowing in the flow passage 4. For the purpose of applying hydrophilic treatment to the glass globules 9, 10, 11, 12, said globules are sufficiently washed with a surfactant prior to filling the common liquid chambers 6 and, subsequently, oxygen plasma treatment is applied to the globules under such a condition that O2-pressure is 1mmHg, RF power is 100W and a treatment time is about 5 min to make the surfaces thereof hydrophilic.</p> |
