<p>Resorcinol compounds and their production New compounds having the formula 1 (1) wherein W is hydrogen, halogen, n-alkyl, -NHCOR1, -COR1,or phenoxyacetylamino optionally substituted by one or two C1-12 straight- or branched chain alkyl groups, X is a substituent in the coupling position and is selected from hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, -SR11 or a nitrogenrcontaining heterocyclic residue attached at a ring nitrogen atom, and Y is a group having the formula 2 (2) wherein Q is selected from the residues: -COOR or -CONR4R5, -OM, -NR7R8, -PO(OR9)¢O!xR10 with X = 0 or 1, SO2OH, -SO2NR4R5 or CN. The groups R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R7, R8, R9, R10 R11, M, k and n are defined hereinafter. These compounds are used as black colour couplers in photographic materials.</p> |
