[Also in Division G2] Polymers of the formulµ wherein M is an alkali metal and R is an aliphatic or aromatic bivalent group are prepared (i) by reacting a diisocyanate, a dicarboxylic acid or a functional derivative thereof or a di- (chlorocarbonic acid ester) of a diol with an alkali metal 4, 4<SP>1</SP>-diamino-stilbene-2,2<SP>1</SP>-disulphonate or (ii) by reacting a diisocyanate and an alkali metal 4, 4<SP>1</SP>-dihydroxy stilbene-2,2<SP>1</SP>- disulphonate in the case of compounds of Formula IV. Reference is made to the polymers having intrinsic viscosities of 0À70, 0À20, 0À30 and 0À50 respectively at 30‹ C. The compounds are used as U.V. absorbers (see Divisions G2-G3) |
