SHIFT LEVER DEVICE FOR TRANSMISSION

PURPOSE:To simplify the operation of a shift lever device for transmission by securing such a mechanism where a detent pin is positioned at the longitudinal groove part of a detent groove of a detent plate to be loaded into and unloaded out of the detent groove and the stop state of a stopper member is released. CONSTITUTION:A shift lever 10 is positioned at a P range as shown by an alternate long and two short dashed line (a) and touches a stopper part of a stopper member 15 to be held there. When the lever 10 is turned laterally, a protruded rod 19 is moved back along a circular arc hole 20 of a detect plate 1 and therefore the member 15 is turned round a supporting shaft 4 against the elasticity of an energizing spring 23. Then a guide groove 14 of the plate 1 is opened. Thus the lever 10 is turned almost horizontally toward an assistant driver's seat round an attachment shaft and along the groove 14 by the elasticity of a torsion spring. When the energizing force is released against the rod 19, the member 15 is set back to its original position and a sloping surface 18 touches the lever 10.
