PURPOSE:To secure a cathode-ray tube with irregular reflection surface that is high in resolution, and inexpensive, by scratching a face part surface by means of polishing with spherical grains, rounding this scratch with an etching solution, while forming a semispherical pit of 1-50mum in diameter, and forming the irregular reflection surface. CONSTITUTION:A face part surface of a cathode-ray tube is scratched by means of polishing with a spherical grain of 0.1-100mum in grain size, then this scratch is rounded by an etching solution, and a semispherical pit of 1-50mum in diameter is formed on the irregular reflection surface. As material for this spherical grain, powder of metal, glass ceramics or the like is usable, but it is desirable to use the metal from the standpoint of service life. And, the spherical grain is to do point contact with the face part surface, thereby forming uniform and delicate scratches on the surface, so that a pit to be formed after etching also becomes a uniformly sized. Accordingly, the cathode-ray tube with irregular reflection surface that is high in resolution, and inexpensive and without defect is obtained.
