摘要 PURPOSE:To eliminate the torque shock at the time when the clutch of a mechanical supercharger is connected, by connecting the clutch means after the lapse of a prescribed time subsequent to the operation of an input increasing means. CONSTITUTION:When an electromagnetic clutch 12 is turned ON, a mechanical supercharger 6 is driven so as to be synchronized with the rotation of the output shaft of an engine. At the time of a low load in which the mechanical supercharger 6 is not driven, an air bypass passage 11 is communicated with an intake air passage 2 to allow the natural intake of air to be carried out. At the time of a high load operation in which the mechanical supercharger 6 is driven, the communication between the passage 11 and the passage 12 is cut off. When the operating condition of the engine is shifted from a nonsupercharging region to a supercharging region, first, a fuel injection valve 9 is operated to increase fuel, and only after the lapse of prescribed seconds of time, the electromagnetic clutch 12 is connected.
