PURPOSE:To prevent an open roof from collision with mating parts by decelerating the opening and closing speed of open roof when a gap between the open roof and the mating parts is less than a predetermined value as the open roof is opened and closed. CONSTITUTION:An open roof 7 (7a, 7b) is operatively opened and closed by the use of a roof driving device 22. Then, when the open roof 7 is closed, for example, a gap less than a predetermined value between the open roof 7 and a front header 6 on the upper portion of a compartment is detected by an upper position detecting switch 17. And the speed of a motor Mr for a roof driving device 21 is decelerated to decelerate the drive speed in the completion of closing the open roof 7. Thus can be reduced an impact force generated between the open roof 7 and the front head 6 in the completion of closing said roof for example. To decelerate the speed of each motor Mr then, voltage dropping resistance is connected to a circuit for supplying current to the motor for example.
