A heat transfer composition consists essentially of a tetra-alkyl orthosilicate having alkyl groups each containing not in excess of 4 carbon atoms plus up to 15% by weight of the whole of a polyethylene, polypropylene or mixed polyethylene-polypropylene glycol or a C1 to C8 mono- or di-ether thereof. The preferred silicates are the isopropyl and isobutyl silicates and mixed silicates such as di-isopropyl-di-isobutyl orthosilicate; the preferred glycol ether is the butyl, ethyl di-ether of poly-1,2-propylene glycol. |
