A measurement process and device for detecting a projectile (7) or parts thereof during its flight, possibly even in the target area, detects with an inductive sensor (1) the electric charge transmitted to the projectile (7) or to parts thereof by friction with the air and/or by the cloud of gaz generated on firing or on explosion, and the zero crossover of the signal thus obtained is evaluated. The signals obtained can be used for measuring duration of flight, speed, for the temporal analysis of splinter scattering or the like.
