PURPOSE:To manufacture efficiently an optical element which is of high shape accuracy, free from a distortion and superior in optical characteristics, by a method wherein upon mixing of a plurality of stock solutions uniformly by incorporating a polymerization initiator in one of a plurality of stock solutions mainly composed of a vinyl monomer, the mixture of the stock solutions is cast into a mold frame and cured through polymerization under heating and pressurization. CONSTITUTION:A vinyl monomer composition is divided into two stock solutions at least and a polymerization initiator is added into one of the two stock solutions. Then curing through polymerization is performed uniformly by performing heating and pressurization within the mold frame by casting the divided stock solution within the mold frame immediately after mixing of the divided stock solution uniformly. Then a molded product can be formed where both the surface and interior of the same are free from defects such as bubbles or dents, the shrinkage due to polymerization is compensated, a surface state and form of the mold frame are inverted precisely, accuracy is high and in inner distortion is little. The vinyl monomer is at least a kind selected out of methacrylic ester, acrylic ester and an aromatic vinyl compound. It is preferable that the stock solution contains at most 30wt.% of multifunctional vinyl monomer in the stock solution. |
