The workpiece carrier is intended for a mounting device and has a frame formed from profiled parts which can be fitted together. The workpiece carrier additionally possesses a supporting plate which accommodates the workpiece and can be connected to the frame. The frame of the workpiece carrier can be optionally lengthened and/or widened by inserting intermediate pieces between the approximately equal-length legs of angular corner pieces.
